A little more than two years have passed since “The Dark Delight“. Now the Swedes from Melodic Metal band Dynazty strike again. I don’t think much more needs to be said about the members of the band. Because of the pandemic, the musicians had more time and could work intensively on the new songs.

We decided to come up with the most cohesive and definitive album and version of ourselves yet. Game plan: no fillers, all killers.

This is the ambitious statement of singer Nils Molin (see also Amaranthe). Like its predecessor, “Final Advent” was produced by the band itself. And also recorded again in Jacob Hansen’s studio. With this consistency, nothing should really go wrong.

One should not be deceived by the industrial introduction of “Power Of Will”. After just a few seconds, the rhythm section kicks in powerfully. In addition, the multi-voiced choruses provide a bombastic and atmospheric prelude. With “Advent” you hear a riff storm. This groovy song is not quite as fast as the opener, but has a driving rhythm. “Natural Born Killer” is in the same vein. You can quickly sing along to the polyphonic chorus. “Yours” is a great ballad, which is also refined by the choruses. The guitar solo is the icing on the cake. In “All The Devils Are Here” the orchestration dominates and pushes the rhythm elements somewhat into the background. A commercially designed song. “The White” is then more guitar-heavy and rocky again. Until the vocals come in. Here, the instruments are taken back a little. Later the drums drive the song. An alternating bath of midtempo and uptempo passages. “Instinct” starts experimentally. Before guitar riffs strike here too. As usual, the chorus is polyphonic choir singing. In between all the bombast, hectic synths can be heard. “Heart Of Darkness” is a melodic rocker without the flourishes heard before. One of the best songs on the album. Nils Molin’s vocals in “Achilles Heel” always remind us of a very great singer, Ronnie James Dio. Another highlight. “Power Of Now” is the fast-paced finale of the album. Here, riffs are fired off once more.

“Final Advent” is a strong album, recorded by good musicians. The vocal performance of Nils Molin is outstanding. He probably also benefits from his engagement with Amaranthe. Jacob Hansen has provided a fat production. There are slight drawbacks for the synths and the sometimes too bombastic passages. More straightforwardness would be desirable here.
