Five Ways To Nowhere – Live Streaming Show

Almost one year ago, I wrote the first report about a livestream show. The first one was Hexed from Sweden. What I thought at the time was a short, quickly passing phase has now unfortunately been a sad reality for a long time. A small virus holds the world in its clutches. And there is no end in sight. So, more and more bands are offering their fans to attend virtual concerts. And of course, ask for financial donations as well. The latest example is Five Ways To Nowhere from Turin in Northern Italy. Last year, they released their debut album “Bite Hard“. But concerts to promote the album were unfortunately not possible. So, they broadcast a live show.
Of course, the debut album was the focus of this evening. Almost all the songs from it were played. But there were also some cover songs on the programme, “Bette Davis Eyes” (Jackie DeShannon/Kim Carnes), “Open Your Eyes” (Guano Apes) or “Fight For Your Rights” (actually “(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (to Party!)” by the Beasty Boys). The latter was appropriately elevated from Hip Hop to Alternative Metal heaven. But Lady Gaga was also represented (“Bad Romance”). The covers were obviously carefully chosen and rearranged to fit the band’s sound. With this, the Italians showed a wide musical range. With “B.A.D.” and “Bruised”, two new songs were also presented. The band had announced a one-hour show. But in the end, they were on stage for one and a half hours. And at the end you could chat with the musicians. A thoroughly successful evening.

Opinions on live stream concerts are extremely differentiated. Some reject them outright. For others, it is a welcome distraction from the dreariness of everyday life. The author of these words also watches livestreams from time to time. Of course, this is no substitute for a real live feeling.
