Greyhawk are a young Metal band from Seattle in the Northwest of the USA. Founded in 2018, they released their first EP “Ride Out” in the same year. The debut album “Keepers Of The Flame” was released in 2020. Musically, they want to appeal to fans of Dio, Manowar, Judas Priest or even Yngwie Malmsteen. And they do so at a high rate. They went into the studio again as early as mid-2021. The result, the EP “Call Of The Hawk”, was released at the beginning of February.

Already the opener “Steelbound” shows clearly where the journey is going. Classic Heavy Metal. This midtempo stomper is really great. You just have to bang along. And what a great guitar solo. The title song “Call Of The Hawk” starts with the scream of a bird of prey (falcon?) before the guitars and the drums really go wild. A lot of theatricality was packed into “Demon Star”. But without slipping into cheesiness. Here, too, the rhythm section dominates.  Only the choruses stand out a bit. With “Shattered Heart” the tempo picks up a bit.  Only with “Take The Throne” does the epicness come through. The great Metal anthem at the end.

I have to admit, I didn’t know the band before. And I definitely missed something. A Metal EP that makes you curious. Of course, also about the previously released works.
