“Glimmer of Hope,” released in August 2024, is the sophomore album by Athens-based progressive metal band ORRA. Following their 2022 debut, “Unbounded,” this album showcases the band’s evolution, blending emotive melodies with complex compositions.
The album comprises eight tracks, each highlighting ORRA’s commitment to musical intricacy and emotional depth.
The opening track, “All the Roads,” features intricate guitar effects, commendable bass work, and the strong yet soothing vocals of Louis Hatzimihalis, reminiscent of bands like Fates Warning.
“Brace the Fall” is here with an outstanding chorus that will blow your mind. One of my favorites!
You can also enjoy “In Light’s Shadow” for the dynamic melody that sticks to your mind and wave to listeners to sing along, while “In Pulse (The Long Errand)” offers a sound seems like a progressive ballad.
“Infinity” delves into darker and much heavier tones and the path that presents to the listener, is a new era to someone. Very interesting song with a lot of powerful techniques that you will love!
Last but not least, is the song “Seclusion” and the song “Here Come the Tears,”. Soft and heavy in a great way. The perfect mix for a perfect album that drips with feelings of loss and regret and for joy and passion!
Overall, “Glimmer of Hope” is here for progressive metal enthusiast fans and listeners that they are seeking atmospheric projects with heavy notes!
I’m calling it one of the best albums of the year and my score is 9.5/10!
