They come from Sweden. The Metal Duo Profaned. They are rooted in Thrash, NWOBHM and Modern Metal. The duo started in 2020. The aim was to live out their shared passion for melodic and dramatic Heavy Metal. The debut EP “Surreal Existence” will be released at the end of January.
After a short introduction, you start powerfully. But soon the pace of “Prisoner Of The Mind” slows down a bit. An anthemic mid-tempo rock song. The cleanly plucked guitars cannot hide the fact that “The End Of Eden” tends towards Epic Doom, as it is for example, celebrate their fellow countrymen from Candlemass to perfection. The voice of Thomas Clifford would also ideal fit to the Swedish Doom heroes. Instrumentalist Henrik Wesström is particularly convincing on the stringed instruments. But he should leave the drums to a professional here. The conclusion is the power ballad “Enigmatic”. Many synth strings are used. And one last time you can hear a great guitar solo.
Three songs, three different sounds. A three-track EP could hardly be more varied. You can certainly look forward to future albums and live shows. The singer says:
We have material for at least two albums in the works, and are now expanding our lineup for future live shows.
So, let’s wait and see what the future brings.
