FFO: Testament, Exodus, Faith No More, Rage Against the Machine

Well, 2020 has been shit hasn’t it? Thankfully, Rambomesser are back with their latest album ‘Krawell am Kiosk’ in an attempt to try and at least put a little smile upon our faces and make this turgid year slightly better.

                Taking influence from those big, over-the-top American action movies from the 80’s, ‘Krawall…’ is a fun, grooving missile straight to your feet. This is a sleek sounding album that charges in with all guns blazing in a whirlwind of punches that create an atmosphere that is actually so hard to not enjoy. Driving riffs and thundering drums, fist pumping lyrics and gang chanted vocals dominate this performance as tracks such as ‘Metal Battle’, ‘Mache-Liebe-Lang’ and ‘Kuttengott’ have all the likeability of Testament and Exodus with their furiously heavy beats. Furthermore, to just leave it there would be an injustice to ‘Krawell…’ as there is so much more to this album; yes, there is an overarching thrash sound, but running underneath like a raging torrent is an alternative sound, a demographically widening accessibility that not only drags in fans from the likes of Faith No More and Rage Against the Machine, but also Red Hot Chili Peppers with a quick fire machine gun staccato vocal delivery which has all the hallmarks of devouring Lemmy’s entire lifetime quota of amphetamine sulphate in one sitting.

                Riff for riff and pound for pound, ‘Krawell’ is very good, it’s a fun, infectious album that delivers a drivingly heavy sound delivered through a wink and a smile and is exactly what this year needs.
