According to the press release, Renegade Angel are a Finnish Melodic Heavy Metal band. Although the line-up reads very international. Apart from US guest star Tim Owens, mastermind Jani Pöysä has put together an international line-up. Singer Alejandro Fernandez comes from Mexico. And the name of drummer Vangelis Moraitis sounds somehow like Greece. There is also Slovenia (Amadei Šaršanski) and Chile(?) (Lukky Sparxx). The master himself obviously does not appear in the recordings. He is responsible for the lyrics and compositions. Recently, after several singles, the EP “Damnation” was released.

The title track “Damnation” is full of strong riffs and melodic hooklines. And nothing more needs to be said about the vocal qualities of “Ripper”. Finest Power Metal, with some quiet phases. The single was extended to an EP with two versions of last year’s “Journey Into Madness”. Single and EP were released on the same day. In the so-called “Rollin Sound Studio Mix” Alejandro Fernandez can prove that he is in no way inferior to Tim Owens. The compositions of Jani Pöysä are completely convincing. Alejandro sings the second version in his mother tongue.

After three singles in the last two years, Renegade Angel are now making a double strike. There are five songs from this project so far. And what I’ve heard so far is a breath of fresh air in Metal. But I think the real baptism of fire will be the first full length album. The only question that remains is whether this international group is a real band or more of a studio project. For my part, I would like to be live in front of the stage.
