Almost four years after the comeback album “Ghost” Saint Deamon follow up with the successor “League Of The Serpent”. Founded in 2006, two albums were released in the early years (2008 and 2009). Before it became ten years quiet around the band. For the third album three singles were released and two more last year, as a preview of the current work. The album was mixed by Oscar Nilsson at Crehate Studios (Scorpions, Crash Diet, In Flames, among others). The finishing touches were done by Tomas ‘Plec’ Johansson (The Night Flight Orchestra, Nocturnal Rites, among others).

A lot of pathos, a lot of epic, that’s how the album starts with “At Break Of Dawn”. Great sound. The press text speaks of individual touch. In Power Metal? At least it sounds fresh and unspent. But every now and then I am reminded of the Swedish compatriots of Sabaton. But they put even more pathos into their war hymns. The title track “League Of The Serpent” hits exactly the same note. And is even a bit faster than its predecessor. And that’s exactly how it continues, whether with the rhythmic midtempo stomper “The Final Fight” or the occasional high-speed “Lord Of The Night”. For a change, “A Lie To Be Undone” starts with acoustic guitars. But soon the whole rhythm power kicks in again. And again and again the riffs dominate, but they are quite accompanied by beautiful melodies, like in “Raise Hell”. And this game dominates until the end, hard riffs, beautiful melodies, impressive clear vocals. Mostly songs in high speed (“Gates Of Paradise”, “Load Your Cannons”, “Heaven To Heart”). In addition, there are epic choruses.

Saint Deamon give three quarters of an hour full throttle. It is pleasing that the songwriting is varied. Thus, the album never seems boring. And the Scandinavians do not overdo it with the bombast. That makes them stand out pleasantly from a lot of their genre colleagues.
