Slut Machine
Black Cage

Actually, I would have met the girls from Slut Machine a few weeks ago, at the Metal Queen’s Burning Night near Turin. And actually, the EP “Black Cage” should already be finished. But the corona pandemic has hit northern Italy hard. The festival was postponed to next year. And the quartet from Milan has postponed the publication until the end of June. Slut Machine were founded by drummer Federica Rossi in 2011. The first EP “Hang On” was released a year later. The debut album “Splatter Island” followed in 2014 and “Irrational” in 2017. The band has toured in Italy, France, the UK and Germany since its inception. They were not deterred by constant lineup changes.

Powerful start at “I’m Done”. The vocals are initially a bit calmer, slightly scratchy, underlined by clean guitars. Later Ginger screams his soul out. The drums are buzzing. With “Bug In The Glass” too, you experience a change of emotions, calm guitar parts alternate with hard riffs. With the quasi-theme song “Man In The Black Cage” the girls step on the accelerator again. Drummer Xina sets the rhythm while Sara hits the listener with the riffs. The half-ballad “I’m The Sun” is probably the catchiest song on the EP. Rock radio stations in particular should listen to this Airplay-compatible song. And play! “Blame It On Me” is almost a classic rock song. The final song “Animal” is located in Stoner Rock. Frying guitars and a pressing bass line (inn) are predominant here.

Unpolished and loud. This is how you can describe this EP. The four girls celebrate a raw sound that is unusual for Italy. And they do it pretty well. Slut Machine is definitely going live. I hope I can experience it myself next year.
