The first sign of life of the Swedish band Ström (or Strøm) on Facebook is from April 2019, which matches the info that the quintet have been playing together for about three years. In that time, the band has played a number of live concerts and toured Scandinavia several times. More tours are planned for the near future, such as a concert tour through Spain in early 2023. Nevertheless, the band found time to produce ten songs for the self-titled debut album. The lyrics are written in the musicians’ native language. Musically, classic rock is played, inspired by bands like AC/DC, D-A-D, Hardcore Superstar or (early) Bon Jovi.

Slamming start with fat riffs. Already on “Tiden Sjunger” you can hear the influences of the bands mentioned. Why am I reminded of the compatriots Bullet? Also in “Katapult” the riffs dominate. But they sound a bit deeper than before. Of course, there are always sing-along choruses to be heard, if you know the Swedish language. Of course, I don’t want to neglect the great guitar solos. Whether the quick and rhythmic “Ta mig tillbaks”, the bluesy “Vass tunga” and “Ungt blod (genom ett gammalt hjarta)” or the “Hatet”, which reminds of The Who at the beginning, the album offers a lot of variety and good Rock music. Then there is high-speed Hard Rock with “Sadan son sadan far”. Finally, the album ends with the partly balladic Rock hymn “Blodsband”.

A successful debut by the Swedish Hard Rockers Ström. They take us on a journey back in time to the 80s. It’s fun to listen to. Keep it up.
