VASS/KATSIONIS is a studio project from Greece, consisting from the multi-instrumentalist and music producer Bob Katsionis and vocalist Billy Vass. One year ago, they released their first album “Ethical Dilemma”, paying tribute to 90s melodic progressive metal in general and Fates Warning in particular. One year later they return with its successor, titled “Cynical Silence”. Once more the two top class musicians deliver music of the highest quality! Fates Warning influences are still there, especially in songs like “Restless Seeker” or “Invisible Thread”. But this time Bob has given a more personal touch to the final result.
One thing that we must mention is that the cover artwork of the album has been made through artificial intelligence (combining two programs) and the outcome is more than impressive. I guess this is a technology that many might use in the future. Production of the album has been made by Bob Katsionis in his own Sound Symmetry Studio, while mastering has been made by Nasos Nomikos. All lyrics once more have been written by Billy Vass.
In conclusion, whoever is a fan of technical and melodic progressive metal, will not be disappointed by “Cynical Silence”. The album is out there in digi cd by Symmetric Records
