Saber hail from the city of angels Los Angeles (California). Founded in 2018, the band is dedicated to the traditional New Wave of British Heavy Metal of the 1980s. After two singles, they released their debut album ‘Without Warning’ in 2021. They are now under contract with the Greek label RPM-ROAR. The follow-up ‘Lost In Flames’ will be released under this label in February.

The album starts with the title track ‘Lost In Flames’. And right at the beginning, you can hear the crackling of flames. But only very briefly. Later, melodic hooks and hard guitar riffs take centre stage. Steven Villa sings in higher pitches, but powerfully. And the first guitar solo follows. This is followed later by others. With ‘Pheonix Rising’, the band switches into high-speed mode. The drums in particular drive forward. The guitars, but also the vocalist, go full steam ahead. A calm, almost hymnic part is added before the song fades out with high-speed guitars. Weird-sounding, heavily distorted guitar riffs introduce ‘Madam Dangerous’. This is followed by rhythmic riffs. And another good, but unfortunately only short guitar solo. Although, once again, it’s not just a one-off solo. ‘Shattered Dreams’ is characterised by fast riffs and no less fast hooks. A good interplay between the two guitarists. The high tempo continues on ‘Time Tells All’. Some high Metal screams can be heard. ‘Shadow Of You’ initially provides a much-needed point of calm. Before picking up speed here too. First a beautiful ballad, then a Metal anthem. After the short drum intro, ‘On The Hunt’ also kicks off. Rhythmic riffs fired almost every second and occasional high Metal screams characterise the song. ‘Steel Breaker’ ends the album with renewed high-speed power.

Saber have released a top-class album with ‘Lost In Flames’. For long stretches, you can hear uncompromisingly strong Power Metal, sometimes played at high speed. You can easily recognise role models such as Judas Priest or Riot. At the same time, the musicians present a thoroughly independent sound.
