Scott Weis Band 2025 in Hamburg
Location: Klangbar Hamburg Bergederf
Date: 16 October 2025
‘From North Jersey to the Blues Hall of Fame’. That’s what you can read in the bio on the Scott Weis Band homepage. But the motto for this evening could also be ‘From North Jersey to the Klangbar in Hamburg-Bergedorf’. Founded in summer 2005, the trio made a stopover there on their European tour 2025, bringing with them the new album with the fitting name ‘SWB XX’. The three have been celebrating Classic Blues Rock for twenty years. OK, not quite. There was obviously a creative break in between. But they’ve been back on the road together since 2018. At least that’s what you can read on the inside of the current CD. You can see the pictures of the evening on Flickr.
Although the official start of the show wasn’t until 8.30pm, the musicians entered the stage at a quarter past eight. And they started with a five-song block from the current album ‘SWB XX’. A total of eight songs from this disc were played in the first part of the evening. Great guitar solos could be heard and of course the typical Blues atmosphere. Namesake Scott Weis also repeatedly unpacked his harmonica. With his other hand he played melodies on the guitar neck. Outstanding! The first part of the show ended with the Joe Cocker cover ‘With A Little Help From My Friends’. At the beginning of the second part of the show, the electric bass was swapped for a contrabass and the electric guitar for an acoustic guitar. And you don’t hear a solo on a contrabass every day. Robert Kopec not only plucked the bass, he also used the bow. Speaking of bass solos. Later there was also one with the electric bass. Robert Kopec was partly supported by drummer Roger Voss. The latter also had his solo performance later on. Scott Weis fanned him. The refreshment from such hard work was certainly welcome. The evening did not end without the trio having to play two encores.

The Scott Weis Band thrilled their fans for almost two hours. With outstanding Blues Rock. There was a well-rehearsed band on stage, three friends you might say. The chemistry between the musicians was just right. And this teamwork was rewarded with much applause. I would love to come back. Finally, I would like to thank the musicians and the Klangbar team. The sound and lighting were once again excellent. As was the service at the bar.
