SEX FACES (DC) Channel Raw Energy into New LP BAD VIBES OST (Slovenly Recs) & Announce Tour Dates

In the sticky-floored underbelly of Washington DC, where the amps buzz louder than the city’s bullshit, SEXFACES have been brewing something gnarly. Their debut full-length, BAD VIBES OST, is a full-noise, zero-fluff slab of punked-up nihilism, dropping May 2025 via Slovenly Records. Recorded and mixed in April 2024 under the ever-present shadow of Boner 4Ever by Dan Angel and produced by Ben Schurr, this 11-track dose of chaotic energy is the sound of a band that knows exactly what it’s doing—and doesn’t care if you like it or not. Accompanying the release is a jagged, visually striking video directed by Jonathan Howard, channeling the same raw urgency and no-frills defiance that fuels the record. SEXFACES ain’t here to play nice. Jacky Cougar (Des Demonas, Thee Lolitas) pounds the drums like they owe him money, while Sal Go (Stop Worrying & Love the Bomb, The NVs) saws through the noise with guitar that’s equal parts bratty and brutal. Hana Racecar (Tadzio, Coven Tree) layers in viola with a sneering elegance, and FiFi Allin (TK Echo, Et At It) slings basslines that punch and swerve. Together, they churn out a sound that drags the droney madness of the Velvet Underground through the gutter, filters it through The Fall’s acerbic wit, and ties it all together with the punk attack of The Damned and the scuzzy swagger of Royal Trux.

“We play full-noise, zero-fluff, based music for bad people,” they say. That might be true, but BAD VIBES OST is too damn infectious to ignore. Following up their Young Team EP, the band set up camp with Dan Angel to capture this whirlwind of noisy garage, no-wave pop, and post-punk snarl. Mastered by Jim Diamond of Ghetto Recorders infamy, it’s a record built for the volume knob to stay maxed out. “Ultraviolence” is that specific kind of flashback where it feels like the world is ending for you again and again,” says Sal. “Eventually, you learn to cope, but usually in unhealthy ways.” That tension slashes through BAD VIBES OST, from the scathing feminist call-to-arms “Can’t Do That”—which Jacky started writing before passing it off to Sal—who finished it with a vision of scumlords strung up and billionaires held accountable. Same with “S.C.U.M”: “I ate too big of an edible, was stoned as hell, hiding in bed smearing goat cheese on some Tostitos, and downloaded Valerie Solanas’ manifesto… I don’t believe in ghosts, but it felt like she was holding a lit cigarette to my eye,” says Sal. “We called her cousin during the recording session, but he refused to comment.”

Jacky recalls misremembering a Lemmy Kilmister anecdote when titling “Can’t Do That.” “Lemmy told me about joining Hawkwind: ‘I was tripping on acid ’cause everything was laced, I stumbled onstage, and someone gave me a bass and said ‘play something in G, this one is called You Shouldn’t Do That. But I remembered it as You Can’t Do That.” Elsewhere, “Johnny and Moz” rips through the wreckage of a relationship. “Pacino told me about an ex who used to punch him in his sleep,” says Jacky. Meanwhile, “Comfort Man” and “Special/Lame” take aim at a real-life piece of human garbage—so much so that they got Ben’s dad to lay down a painfully bad flute solo about him. Three takes, and it still reeked of disappointment.

If you like your rock ‘n’ roll with a side of bloodshot eyes and bad decisions, BAD VIBES OST is for you. Think the feral menace of The Stooges, the slow-burn dread of the Bad Seeds, the nihilistic sneer of Pussy Galore, and the raw bluesy crunch of The Gun Club, all filtered through the lens of a band that refuses to play by the rules. SEXFACES have arrived, and they’re not cleaning up after themselves.
