The Bologna-based modern alternative metal band make their official debut with “Charon”, out now on all major digital platforms. The official music video premieres on 29 September 2026.

State of Persistence officially introduce themselves with “Charon”, the band’s debut single and the first chapter of a project built around the collision of heaviness, melody and dark atmosphere.

Formed in Bologna in 2026, State of Persistence blend modern alternative metal and metalcore with techno-industrial textures, electronic elements and cinematic keyboards, driven by a dual-vocal approach that moves between clean, gritty and harsh vocals.

Their aim is direct: to create music made for headbanging without sacrificing melody, melancholy or emotional tension. “Charon” embodies that contrast, combining heavy riffs and mechanical rhythms with atmospheric passages and melodic elements.

Lyrically, “Charon” explores a state of profound emotional dislocation. Painful memories keep resurfacing, familiar faces begin to feel distant and an expanding inner void gradually distorts the protagonist’s perception of everything around them.

At the centre of the song stands Charon, the ferryman from Greek mythology who carries souls across the boundary between the world of the living and the dead. Here, Charon becomes the symbol of escape: a figure called upon when breathing, dreaming and finding a place in the world no longer seem possible. Yet the peace imagined beyond that boundary is never portrayed as reassuring; it is simultaneously attractive and frightening.

THE BAND EXPLAINS
“Charon is about the point where pain changes the way you perceive everything around you. Even the people closest to you can feel far away, and the idea of escaping everything can start to resemble peace. Charonrepresents that boundary: something that attracts because it promises silence, but frightens at the same time.”

ABOUT STATE OF PERSISTENCE
With “Charon”, State of Persistence establish the foundations of their identity: modern, heavy, melodic and melancholic music, contaminated by techno and torn open by metal. The project transforms inner conflict, alienation and emotional fracture into a direct and highly visual sound.
