UK alt-rock crew THE BITTER PILLS reveal their long-awaited debut album later this year, and it’s a full-volume statement built on distortion, urgency, and zero interest in restraint. Prior to the release, the band have dropped their stomping new single and video, Set Me Free, out now – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AS7ij1XaYyc . Hailing from Eastbourne and formed by guitarist and vocalist Nico Sc’erri, the band took final shape when drummer Chris Cooper joined in 2023, locking in a sound defined by raw energy, stripped-back aggression and a refusal to sit neatly within genre lines. Before THE BITTER PILLS existed, the pair had already built a deep musical bond. They’ve known each other since their early teens, sharing well over a decade of playing and touring together before the project fully took shape. That history now sits at the core of the band’s identity, fuelling a natural chemistry that runs through both studio recordings and live shows.
Influenced by everyone from Royal Blood, Turnstile, Nirvana, and The Living End, THE BITTER PILLS fuse garage rock, punk and hard rock into something louder, looser and more unpredictable than the sum of its parts. They’ve already cut their teeth touring Belgium and the Netherlands, earning a reputation for high-voltage live shows built on impact rather than polish. “It’s like standing next to a jet engine while riding a rollercoaster through a thunderstorm — relentless, loud and physical.”
With their debut album set for release soon, the band enlisted producer Tim Kramer to help shape the record. The focus has been firmly on impact over polish, with no interest in compromise. Speaking about the album, the band said: “The album is a bold, riff-heavy statement — massive guitars, thunderous drums, and sharp-edged lyrics throughout. Years in the making, we refused to rush it, crafting a record with no filler — every track stands tall. Fearless in style and execution, it’s a unique, electrifying introduction that demands attention.”
With more music and live dates on the way, THE BITTER PILLS arrive fully formed, fully amplified, and impossible to ignore.
