Hailing from the Great White North, ANCIENT TEETH is an exciting new alternative supergroup consisting of lead singer-songwriter Adrian Mottram (Sights & Sounds, Seas, The Getaway), guitarist Chris Hughes (Moneen, Seas), bassist Jahmeel Russell (Red Vienna, ACTORS, KEN mode), and drummer Mike Duffield (Beams, Flowers From Hell).
We recap today on the latest singles that have been released: “Look The Part” and “Without This” – LISTEN HERE off of their upcoming debut album Deathbed out February 7th, 2023.
“Look The Part” has musical influenses by Rival Schools and Jimmy Eat World. The single has groovy jangling guitars supported by a moving bass line create the foundation pulse of the story while extravagant lead guitars bridge sections together like poignant thoughts.
The band comments: ‘Look The Part’ is an Observation, it’s the inner dialogue I was having while watching my wife struggle through the horrific loss of her father. Grief needs to pass through us all naturally, and it can take time, I was trying to find my place to be supportive and at the same time wishing the pain would end”
“Without This” is a heavier, dark and more pensive song with fuzzed out guitars and slow driving drums creating the setting for the lyrics to be delivered like a mantra. The tension and release between all of the musical segments allows for the lyrical contemplations to sink in.
Without This touches on the topic of watching someone slowly lose their strength, begin to let go of the world they used to control as they become less physically and mentally capable of functioning in the ways they were once able.
