Vancouver indie veterans Mossy Ledge are back to brighten the season with “Christmas Lights,” a glowing new single that wraps harmony-rich nostalgia in a perfectly twinkling indie-folk package. After decades of melodic mayhem, national touring, and sharing stages with everyone from Nickelback to Sass Jordan, the band now taps into their festive side proving they can still deliver a sparkly surprise just when you think the last gift under the tree has been opened.
Arriving December 9 as a digital stand-alone release, “Christmas Lights” leans into the warmth of winter: shimmering guitars, soft vocals, and harmonies that float in like a neighbourhood caroling crew who know exactly when to show up. It’s a song that celebrates connection, the brave belief that even in the darkest stretch of winter, someone will keep a light on for you.
“The vocal melody and the lyrics really capture the feeling of Christmas. It’s a song that is contemporary, but still based in tradition,” says drummer Ryan Mason. Even though he steps into a restrained role this time, “as a drummer, I had to sit back… there’s no drums in this song. Maybe that present is still under the tree!” His spirit still drives the warmth pulsing beneath the arrangement.
Produced by longtime collaborators Dean Kerr and Ryan Mason, with Kerr also handling engineering and mixing, the track brings a cinematic softness to the band’s classic indie sensibility, delivering a seasonal gem and a warm glow for cold winter nights ahead.
Following their 2024 standout “All You Need to Know”, and the re-release of their ‘90s catalog on streaming platforms, “Christmas Lights” marks the next bright chapter in Mossy Ledge’s long-running creative story. Proof that while winter may come every year, the magic still feels brand new.
