Wasted Wizards
Wake Up Dead
Out: 16^th October 2026
Playing time: 14:34

Swedish hard rock newcomers Wasted Wizards release their debut EP Wake Up Dead on October 16, delivering five brand-new songs that capture the different sides of a band rapidly developing its own identity.

The musicians draw inspiration from classic Hard Rock, without limiting themselves to a single decade or a specific style. As a result, their songs span a range from 1980s arena rock through the raw sound of grunge to the emo rock of the 2000s. The band hails from Mora in the Swedish province of Dalarna. They were formed in early 2024. Wasted Wizards have also released one video on YouTube for each song on the EP.

Heavy riffs and heavy drums – that’s how the title track “Wake Up Dead” comes across. The vocals, however, are very melodic. “Wannabe Rockstar” leans more towards Glam Rock, with the band clearly having a lot of fun playing. “The Story Goes…” sounds more like Hard Rock again, though with a slight punk edge. No, “My Oh My” isn’t a remake of the 1983 Slade classic. This track also gets right down to business, with a slightly off-kilter vocal style. Add to that some hard, high-speed guitar melodies. The closing track, “WTF”, is more rhythmic and leans towards Glam once again.

With “Wake Up Dead”, Wasted Wizards have made their mark on the world of Hard and Glam Rock. They take a carefree approach and are bursting with freshness and enthusiasm.
