Copenhagen’s atmospheric sludge heavyweights, DYING HYDRA, have unleashed their latest sonic monstrosity, “Strange and Beautiful Things,” via Black Grain Records. Listen to the album HERE

Formed in 2018, DYING HYDRA has quickly made a name for themselves with their crushing sound and intense live performances. The trio, consisting of Lars Pontoppidan (guitar/vocals), Patrick Fragtrup (guitar/vocals), and Tejs Kyhl (drums), has solidified their position in the Danish underground metal scene, sharing stages with renowned acts like Bongripper, Hatesphere, Orm, Alkymist, and Primitive Man.

“Strange and Beautiful Things” delves into the depths of the ocean, exploring themes of environmental impact and the mysteries of the marine world. The album is a sonic journey marked by crushing heaviness, atmospheric passages, and dynamic shifts, all delivered with a raw and visceral intensity.

Recorded and mixed by Lasse Ballade at Ballade Studios, and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege, “Strange and Beautiful Things” is a testament to the band’s sonic prowess and dedication to their craft. The album’s stunning cover artwork, created by Kacper Gilka, perfectly complements the dark and brooding atmosphere of the music.

Strange and Beautiful Things” makes its debut through Black Grain Records, in collaboration with distributing partners minoRobscuR, Virkelighedsfjern, Vinyl Trolden, and Quebranta Records offering physical formats for enthusiasts to fully experience the band’s aural journey.
