What’s remarkable is how such a new band have both hit upon and fully delivered on their genuinely idiosyncratic vision so early on.” Kerrang Magazine

“It’s taken a long time, but it’s an enticing, many-layered listen.” PROG Magazine

A beautifully curious blend of pop-sensibility, delicacy, experimentation, and heaviness. Piano-led, guitar-less trio EXPLORING BIRDSONG is paving its own musical path with their latest single “Stitch”.

The band comments:
“’Stitch’ was a song that came together really quickly for us. In a moment of borderline crazed inspiration, a lot of the key elements for ‘Stitch’ have existed more or less since the very first demo. We’re always keen to try new things and pull influence from lots of obscure places- this one unapologetically referencing the Davy Jones organ scene from Pirates of the Caribbean (IYKYK). The song itself is essentially about teamwork in a relationship, trying to feel strong in the face of adversity because someone you have helped to carry in the past is now carrying you. Despite ‘Stitch’ being a return to heavy BIRDSONG, we wanted the message to be a fairly sweet one.”

Rarely are new groups as exciting, talented, or unique as EXPLORING BIRDSONG. Straddling pop, progressive rock, and uncategorizable genre-blending beauty, the band is unplaceable for the most part but brings to mind elements of London Grammar, Kate Bush, and Everything Everything.

Additionally, it isn’t often you hear a voice as captivating as frontwoman Lynsey Ward’s. Powerful, controlled, and spine-chillingly tender, Lynsey’s vocals help mark EXPLORING BIRDSONG as a prospect to watch, from the release of their acclaimed debut The Thing With Feathers (2019, Long Branch Records) to 2023’s EP Dancing in the Face of Danger.

EXPLORING BIRDSONG caught the eyes of key players in the press (Kerrang! Magazine, Prog Magazine, Classic Rock Magazine) and achieved two Progressive Music Awards nominations. The young group recently joined KATATONIA as a special guest following successful support tours with the likes of Sleep Token and Thank You Scientist.
