On “Morning Epitaph”, Moundrag weaves an immersive musical tapestry through soaring and dreamlike vocal harmonies, haunting melodies, and an irresistibly upbeat groove. Drawing on its roots in 1970s progressive rock, the song summons the spirit of King Crimson and Genesis while confidently infusing the songwriting with modern dynamics, textures and production choices. This funeral reverie directed by , an ode to the inevitable, a moment suspended between beauty and the end.

About the video directed by Maureen Piercy, the band comments: “After a nighttime interpretation of a science fiction classic, where majestic landscapes, breathtaking realms, and gargantuan mountains leave us hallucinating, we can finally lose ourselves in the arms of Morpheus. It is then that dreams and reality become one. Between tragedy and gentleness, Morning Epitaph approaches death in a dreamlike manner. The story is told through the eyes of a man “asleep yet awake”, hovering above an imaginary world and facing an unexpected encounter with Death, soon announcing his demise.”

Rooted in 70s prog, hard rock, and heavy psych, Moundrag channels the iconic sounds of Deep Purple, King Crimson, Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Uriah Heep, while bridging the gap with modern acts such as Motorpsycho or Hällas. Yet their new album “DEUX” is no nostalgia trip: it’s a fiercely contemporary manifesto, blending dystopian fantasy, sci-fi, and Celtic myth into lyrics that challenge archaic norms and imagine a freer world. A collision of retro reverence and modern defiance, “DEUX” proves their sound is timeless. It’s a cry from the heart against old patterns, an invitation to break down patriarchal barriers and reshape a freer and fairer world, making it their own.

Moundrag is a fire-driven, boundary-free rock duo formed in 2019 by brothers Camille and Colin Goellaen Duvivier. With Camille on organ and Colin on drums — both sharing vocals in a hypnotic call-and-response — they forge a sound that’s raw, epic and unmistakably their own. Their 2019 debut EP introduced their signature blend of 70s-inspired heaviness with a modern grit, proving you can play rock ‘n’ roll without guitars. In 2022, their first album, “Hic Sunt Moundrages”, expanded their universe with progressive rhythms, psychedelic swells, and a bold, dramatic edge.

Moundrag are set to unveil their sophomore album, “DEUX” — a name that reflects both the duo’s enduring duality and the natural evolution of their sound. Marking a bold step forward, this new album deepens their exploration of heavy, progressive rock with greater ambition and intensity. From hard-hitting melodies to psychedelic crescendos and introspective passages, “DEUX” balances raw power with intricate storytelling. The cover art is a surrealist painting by contemporary Polish artist Justyna Kozikzak, who interprets Dante’s journey through the circles of hell as described in The Divine Comedy, confronting us with mysteries, fears and inevitable changes. It will be issued in the fall of 2025 via Spinda Records and Stolen Body Records.
