Zack King Releases Debut Pop-Punk Album Songs I Wrote Instead of Texting You

Fueled by late-night thoughts, emotional chaos, and pop-punk nostalgia, Zack King’s debut album is a raw, honest, and cathartic look into heartbreak and mental health.

Zack King’s music is a vibrant revival of 90’s pop-punk, blending the high-energy riffs and catchy hooks of Blink-182, the emotional depth of Jimmy Eat World, and the modern edge of MGK. With anthems rooted in nostalgia, his sound captures the raw spirit of rebellious youth and restless nights, while exploring the weight of mental health struggles. Zack’s lyrics delve into introspection and resilience, offering a voice to those navigating the highs and lows of life. His music is a cathartic outlet — a celebration of vulnerability and strength wrapped in crunchy guitars and infectious melodies, meant to hit you where it hurts and heal you at the same time.

His debut studio album, Songs I Wrote Instead of Texting You, released on September 12, 2025, and is available on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and all major streaming platforms. The album is a powerful entry into the pop-punk world, featuring standout tracks like “What’s on your Mind?” and “Heaven (So Far Away).” It dives deep into themes of heartbreak, emotional honesty, anxiety, depression, and the importance of suicide prevention — reminding listeners that even in their darkest moments, the world is better with them in it.

“This album was me trying to survive,” says Zack. “I wrote it for anyone who feels like they’re on the edge — to let them know they’re not alone, and that we need them here.”

Inspired by his personal journey through intrusive thoughts, identity, and mental health battles, Zack uses this album as both a personal release and a message to others: you are not alone, and we need you here. This project isn’t just music — it’s a safe space for anyone navigating their own struggles.

It was my pleasure to have Zack on the Interview to speak on the debut album and on the future of his musical journey. Check out the complete coverage on the below YouTube video.
