Firesky are an international studio project (band?) founded by Finnish drummer Mika Brushane (Imperium). In 2025, the song ‘To Be The Number One’ was released on the compilation “We Still Rock… The World’. The musicians were strongly influenced by 80s AOR greats such as Journey, Foreigner, Def Leppard, Giant and Toto. Their self-titled debut album will be released in March. The album was produced, mixed and mastered by Saal Richmond at Harmonia Recording Work Studio in Giaveno (Turin, Italy).

What is the just over two-and-a-half-minute-long ‘Run Into The Storm’? An intro, an overture, a short instrumental song? Well, a bit of everything. After rain and thunder, a melody develops, with synths and some pretty heavy guitars. ‘Out Of Range’ starts off quietly, with some sound effects and extensive use of synths. But don’t worry, what follows is a calm mid-tempo Rock song. Once again, synths introduce a song. This time it’s ‘I’m Not Broken’. The melody is extremely catchy and the vocals are clear. Of course, there are plenty of guitar solos. ‘A Stone In Time’ starts with a melodic keyboard melody accompanied by rhythmic drums. The catchy chorus is easy to sing along to. Later, the keyboard and guitar deliver strong solos. The album continues with pleasing mid-tempo melodies in ‘Can You Feel Me?’, ‘Like Brothers’ and ‘Together’. Exceptions are the fast and rocking ‘Chasing The Dawn’ and the beautiful ballad ‘One Last Time’. The closing song ‘I Am Fire’ starts off with a short keyboard introduction and then rocks out again in a subtle way. The synths repeatedly push their way to the forefront. But guitar solos also characterise this song.

The influences of the above-mentioned bands are clearly audible on ‘Firesky’. For the musicians, time seems to have stood still, true to the motto ‘AOR lives forever’. In the glorious 80s, every song would have had hit potential. But even in the present day, Firesky’s music is sure to have an impact on AOR and Rock fans.
