OBSIDIAN FALL are ready to return.
Following “Elegy From A Dying World”, their debut album released in March 2025, the Bologna-based melodic death metal band open a new chapter in their story with “Empire Down”, the first single from their currently in-progress second album, out on October 31, 2026.
Their previous record established a sound capable of alternating aggression, melody and melancholic, cinematic atmospheres, portraying a world suspended between decay and hope.
With “Empire Down”, however, Obsidian Fall begin to reveal a new direction: their melodic death metal roots remain at the core of the sound, alongside the atmospheric and symphonic elements, but the approach becomes more modern, direct and compact, with a stronger immediate impact and a production designed to enhance both the aggressive and melodic sides of the band.
This new chapter is also marked by the collaboration with Eddy Cavazza, who handled the production of the track. Throughout his career, Cavazza has worked with bands including Awake For Days, Logical Terror and Trick or Treat, taking on production, mixing and mastering roles across several releases.
“Empire Down” represents the first step towards Obsidian Fall’s second album, whose title and further details will be revealed at a later date.
Visually, the single also introduces a new imagery: an empire dominated by power, oppression and worship, while an ancient presence summoned by mankind eventually turns into something they can no longer control.
The track will be accompanied by a new official music video.
“Empire Down” will be available from October 31, 2026.
