FUTURE NOW is the hard-hitting rock project led by Canadian music veteran Ian Blurton. Known for their raw, powerful sound that blends classic rock, metal, and modern influences, FUTURE NOW delivers music that thrives on energy and live performance.
That’s how the press release describes it. The band includes other experienced musicians. And they create anthems that blend classic Rock and Metal with modern influences. The band was formed in 2019 in Toronto (Canada). Two studio albums have been released so far. Their third album, ‘Imperial Filth’ is due for release in October.
A few guitar chords introduce ‘Gallery Of Scars’, then the strings come in. Almost without warning, the track moves into heavy guitar riffs and powerful drumming. The vocals are quite high-pitched. ‘You Better Get Ready’ is fast and slightly thrash-like, with heavy riffs. ‘Heaven Is A Long Way From Home’ starts off calmer and very rhythmic. Later on, the driving guitars and heavy drums pick up the pace. ‘When The Ends Don’t Meet’ is characterised by dark guitar riffs. It evokes a bit of a Black Sabbath vibe. ‘Death Becomes You’ opens with powerful guitars, which continue to dominate later on. ‘Siren Of The Song’ is then a real riff monster. But the melodies aren’t neglected either. On ‘Settlers Forge’, the drums march ahead. Later, dark and upbeat guitar passages alternate. ‘Don’t Fade The Day’ starts with catchy sounds before stomping rhythms take over. ‘The Jokes Write Themselves’ is a rousing track, driven by the drums. The tempo is then picked up even further when the guitars take the lead on the melody. The guitar-heavy ‘Shadow Work’ captivates with its catchy melodies, ensuring an energetic finale.
‘Imperial Filth’ is a varied Metal album. Numerous riffs, combined with catchy melodies and a powerful sound, make for plenty of musical entertainment. You can clearly hear that it was recorded live in the studio, using tube amplifiers and without the use of samples or AI.
