Ibridoma were formed in March 2001 in Morrovalle (Marche region, Italy) and were, from the very beginning, the brainchild of Alessandro Morroni (drums) and Christian Bartolacci (vocals). The band later took part in several music competitions and won first prize at the ‘Rock Around the Road’ festival in 2004. As a result, the band began writing their own songs. One year later, the EP “Lady Of Darkness” was released. Following the EP “Page 26”, their first full-length, self-titled album was released in 2010. By 2022, they had released six studio albums. “Sangue Innocente” followed in September.
From the very first notes of ‘Realize,’ the guitars drive the track forward relentlessly. Christian Bartolacci’s vocals take a bit of getting used to at first, but you settle into them quite quickly. On ’Childhood Denied’ too, the riffs hit hard right from the start, though they are toned down ever so slightly to accommodate the vocals. Although it feels a bit like thrash at times, the beautiful melodies dominate later on. The lyrics of the title track ‘Sangue Innocente’ are written in the musicians’ native language. Once again, heavy riffs alternate with beautiful melodies. And the album continues with a blend of Melodic Metal and a few Thrash Metal passages, whether on ‘The Gambler’ ‘Occhi Vuoti’, ‘A.I.’ or even ‘Sing In The Sky’. There’s only one direction here: driving drums, fast riffs and fast, at times frantic, vocals. And yet, every now and then, a melodic phrase is thrown in. The Italian-language anthem “The Other Side” is perhaps a minor exception. Here, even greater emphasis is placed on melody. And the straightforward Rock song “Sole Freddo”. The album concludes with “Ho Dimenticato”, another track in the musicians’ native language. And, lo and behold, up until the halfway point it’s a grand acoustic ballad. Later on, calm riffs are added. This is accompanied by a huge, catchy guitar solo.
With ‘Sangue Innocente’, Ibridoma have delivered a successful album. For the most part, the songs lie somewhere between thrash and, above all, Melodic Heavy Metal. But it is particularly with the final track that the Italians prove they are capable of more than just powering ahead.
