“Is it gone? Then why can’t I focus, know it’s wrong? Am I gone?” are lyrics from the track but also thoughts going through Evan Martin’s (vocals & guitar) mind when he experiences anxiety-induced panic attacks.
Fueled by harsh soundscapes and layers of distortion, “Cold Showers”, is about grounding oneself and the dissociation from the real world that often takes hold during a panic attack. As Martin puts it, “A cold shower can feel pretty unpleasant and startling and that’s the whole point. You want to feel as connected to the world as you can and a drastic temperature change can shock you into it.”
Cold Showers was recorded at Union Sound Company by Ian Gomes (Odonis Odonis, Casper Skulls).
L00ping, the industrial noisegazer rock band, resides in London, Ontario, Canada. Reminiscent of a 1980s era Sonic Youth and early Nirvana messing around with harsh noise samples, they are broken, loud and abrasive. Members include Evan Martin on vocals and guitar and Laurie McColeman on bass.
