Arankai returns with new single ‘Convince Me’, the latest track to be lifted from his forthcoming sophomore album, The Shape of Blue.

Built around soaring melodies, crushing breakdowns and one of his most emotionally open performances to date, ‘Convince Me’ explores the vulnerability of relying on somebody else to carry you through life’s darkest moments. Inspired by his relationship with his now wife, the track finds strength in accepting help, proving that even moments of fragility can bring people closer together.

“‘Convince Me’ is a song that deals with insecurity and instability, relying on the love of another to carry you through,” he shares. “In my personal life I’ve struggled a lot with mental health, and I found comfort and compassion in the arms of my now wife. It’s a humbling experience when you need to rely on someone else. But I think there’s a beauty in frailty, and a lot can be learned about yourself and others in moments of desperation.”

The new single continues the journey towards The Shape of Blue, the second chapter in Arankai’s planned trilogy. Expanding on the themes introduced in A Portrait of Red, the album explores rebellion, sacrifice, pride and resilience through some of his most ambitious and emotionally resonant songwriting to date.

“This album is both an intersection and a continuation of my first record – I wanted certain songs in The Shape of Blue to pair with songs from A Portrait of Red, creating these ‘chapters’ you could listen to,” he reveals. “I did that by expanding upon similar subject matter with each song, filling out established ideas from previous songs with more textures and details. This story isn’t all that unique, I think a lot of people experience the concepts expressed in this record all too often. But I think that’s what makes it important, because it’s a story so many can relate to. And sometimes the best songs are just the ones that make you feel heard.”

Hailing from the American Midwest, Arankai has quickly established himself as one of alternative metal’s most compelling emerging voices. Following the release of A Portrait of Red in 2025, the first chapter of an ambitious three-album series, he now returns with The Shape of Blue, a record that expands both his songwriting and sonic palette while continuing to explore the complexities of the human experience.

Where its predecessor drew heavily from personal reflection, The Shape of Blue widens its perspective, taking inspiration from the experiences of others to explore themes of rebellion, sacrifice, pride and resilience. Unified by an immersive, water-soaked atmosphere that runs through every element of the record, from its production to its songwriting, the album blends crushing heaviness with moments of melancholy, experimentation and nostalgia, marking another bold step forward for one of alternative metal’s most exciting new artists.
