The new single by Felix Martin, “Merengue,” is out now. It is part of a series of Latin metal-inspired singles set to be released this year, leading up to a full-length album.
“Merengue” is a mix of rock/metal and merengue (a traditional Dominican Republic music style), performed with a 16-string guitar, 10-string bass, drums, brass, and percussion.
“I’m always trying to push myself to explore new musical ideas and keep myself inspired. This time, I used brass in our music for the first time. I’ve always been fascinated by Latin music and music from across Latin America in general. This time, we explored merengue, a traditional music style from the Dominican Republic. It’s very danceable and fun to write!” says Felix.

“Merengue wasn’t just about producing a song.It was about building a sonic identity where every detail, texture, and technical decision carried real emotion and intention behind it. The more I listened to the session, the more I discovered the complexity and life that exist within the piece.” Says Moises D Bello (mixer / mastering engineer)
The artwork was inspired by Latin American art, favelas (the colorful hillside houses often seen throughout Latin America), beaches in the Dominican Republic, graffiti, and vintage robots.
The video was filmed in downtown Los Angeles and features LA-based musicians Nic Kubes on drums and Joan Torres on 10-string bass. The track was mixed and mastered by Moises D Bello.
