“DEAD GIRLS CORP” INTERVIEW by David Maloney
First off I would like to thank you for taking the time to talk with MHF Magazine. How are you doing? How’s things going in the world of Dead Girls Corp? Can you tell us a little about the band and it’s members and what role each members has within the band?
Dead Girls Corp is a goth industrial band from Hollywood Ca. It’s featured members from MurderDolls, Orgy, and Combichrist. Singer Toddy is the brain behind the band, he and guitarist Dave write everything. Bruce and Mel play bass and drums and do most of the booking, promoting, and merch.
You are described as being Goth Rock Industrial, I’m not one for Genre mongering but that is quite a mix. Can you tell us in your own words what genre(s) best describes Dead Girls Corp?
Dead Girls Corp is an industrial band with influences from many genres.
It states that you represents the Goth Chick Cliques and like scenes. Can you elaborate a little further on what that means?
The name Dead Girls Corp originated from when Toddy would go to clubs like Helter Skelter and Perverison. There would always be cliques of goth chicks at all the clubs, almost like high school. Goth chicks, death rock chicks; they were always the hardest to impress with music so he wanted to appeal to them.
You were founded in early 2000, can you tell us more of what happened to the band until 2011 when you Reincarnated with Guitarist Dave Teague, Bassist Bruce Miyaki and Drummer Mel Mcfail?
Toddy actually started the band in the late 90s. Dave Teague was an original guitar player for the band and reunited in 2011. We took some time to record and solidify members. Finally after playing with a few different drummers, we got Mel and finished recording the new album “Bloody Noses and Hand Grenades” which will be out this summer on Monsterman Records.
Now the band is influenced by New Wave and Industrial Post Punk can you explain a little further into this direction or evolution?
We’re heavily influenced by skinny puppy and Depeche Mode so I guess that would be the “industrial” and “new wave” aspects of our sound.
Congratulations on Signing with Monsterman records, isn’t that owned by your bass player and Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein? Who recently signed or merged with David Ellefson and Thom Hazaert EMP Group Label?
Yes! Dead Girls Corp. bass player Bruce Miyaki actually created Mosterman Records. He partnered with Doyle to put out his first release, “Abominator.” Towards the end of 2016, EMP Label Group agreed to distribute future acts as “Monsterman Records/ EMP Label Group” and since then they’ve signed several artists including Dead Girls Corp.!
What can we expect in the second half of 2017 heading into 2018?
We’re playing with Orgy in late Spring and are doing almost a mini tour consisting of 4 dates with Doyle and Davey Suicide in mid June. Our new album “Bloody Noses and Hand Grenades” (produced/mixed by Jay Gordon of Orgy) will be out this summer as well.
