What’s going on!?
This Year you put up a Trilogy with The Giant, Sagittarius A and The Wormhole, can you tell me about the making of this and the production behind this?
Yeah it’s true…the Idea was to turning the band in a Concept Band and,,, so ,,,, to mix the sound with a Sci-Fi story to describe foe better the feelings that our sound make it feel.
So to recap the plot is set in the near Future where the universe calls attention to the origin of The Giant, a being born to responsing about the Menkind’decline
”Baba” is a cosmic being; any time and any space for him but he feels the life, he feels the energy of the universe; He wants to exploring all the space looking for new worlds …He wants knowledge as much as possible until the extreme limits of the universe and time too.So the Giant starts his journey across the stars, galaxies and nebulas jumping into the time knot and star systems and his knowledge hunger bring him to discovering a lot of life forms; some of them are primordial while others seems like able to doing something innovative as crossing galaxies and exploring any worlds asking themselves if they are the only people in the universe
During his journey crossing the space, Baba feels a lot of energy come from the solar system and he decides to take a look around; He feels life, he feels the feelings but …. While he heading to our world gets distracted by the strong power come from a strong source of radio waves…
It’s SAGITTARIUS A* a supermassive blackhole !Until to proceed to exploring our world he wants to shape this enormous space warp into a portal able to bring everything or everyone elsewhere…
Can you tell me how The Giant Baba was formed and how you guys got together?
The band came together in June 2018 when Joe Ace (aka Giorgio Pierri, guitarist, composer, guitar teacher) and Jason Jackson (guitarist, composer and producer), friends and avid music fans, both fond of post rock, metalcore and in general of experimental music, decided to put together a unique musical experience.This is how The Giant Baba came to be.
In August 2018 they came across Emanuele Cossu, a polyhedral drummer and a true virtuoso of the instrument, who completed te band.
Why the name The Giant Baba, any hidden secrets 😀
This is a curious story…. It was a september’day morning and me and Jason was on lunch watching Gosthbusters (ahahahah) and testing a good glass of wine and a good meal… so we had the IDEA for a new Band inspired by prog/Metal Genre,Djent experimental music and more…inspired by Animals As Leaders, Plini, Dream Theater Toska Deftones and more too…and while we trying with our fantasy looking for the name about the new project we thought to Tiger Man (The 70’s Japan Anime) and his Friend The Giant Baba..ahahaha you know every musician is a little bit crazy…
And here we are with The Giant Baba
You have a mix of Progressive Metal, Post Rock and Djent Power, What would be your perfect genre?
The aim is to exploit the authority of the 8 strings guitars (a mix of baritone and mid/high range sounds), putting them together with a rythmic jazz rock/post metal session and mix the lot in order to allow the listnener to travel through a musical black hole and slingshot him/her in sideral places, post futuristic, where time, logic and rules simply don’t exist.
A blur of parallel worlds that are made up of reverbs, delay, distortions, polyrhythms and musical virtuosity, space and dreamcore sounds that take the “traveller” through this interstellar crossing, with the aim to guide him/her in the visionary experience of The Giant Baba.
What would be some of the touring plans you have planned for 2022?
We are looking for a good menagment for touring step by step for growing up like the most of the band want to… so if there are someone interested to our band and make us touring , why not , in Mexico here we are !!!!ahahah we are waiting for you c’mon guys !
What would be some of the next plans for the band?
Meanwhile, after this pandemic’s situation, we are trying to get organized for some show with other bands… so we are setting the new released too . A new track that gives advance notice about the our New Album
What would be the dreams and aspiration for the band?
So… we hope to become an ispiration for others band in Italy o for the musicians which believe in thisgenre of music and we hope to open or touring with the bands which inspired ourselves and we hope make a part of Metal shows or other something like.
