The musician, actor and writer from Mendoza presents his first album, I don’t want to be crazy. Through 12 songs, he navigates folk, rock and funk, connecting his music with audiovisual language. Available on all digital platforms.

After three intense years of work, the musician, actor and writer from Mendoza
Fran Roby launches I don’t want to be crazy, her first album; a work composed of 12 songs with touches of folk, rock and funk.

“My songs talk about how we stand up to a world that we don’t fully understand, that moves too fast, that we feel is getting out of hand, and also how we escape from it,” says the 29-year-old artist. .

In this musical universe, Roby invites you to navigate the different stages of illusion, the illusion of love, happiness, the ephemeral and the permanent. “I think that living in today’s world involves a certain degree of ‘alienation’. It implies escaping from many things, living in many contradictions. Sustain many fictions to be able to advance, to be able to live. The central theme of my songs deals with this paradox, how we deal with it. As we stand up to a world that we don’t fully understand, that moves too fast, and that we feel is slipping out of our hands,
or how we evade it”, he says.

For Roby, this first album comes after a varied artistic journey: she starred in plays (The Archimedes Principle, Telemaco Sub Europa, Ex que reventen los actors) and audiovisual productions; he wrote texts and was part of other musical projects. This is why in I don’t want to be crazy he sought to cross all these languages. “I am a musician, actor and writer. I can’t split either part,” he says. I have tried many times to suppress some in pursuit of others, but it is impossible for me.

And in this record work, music is in a permanent dialogue with the audiovisual: four of the songs (Nena, In a corner, Luna, and I don’t want to be crazy) already have their video clip and narrate a unique story. “I have to fill my creative appetite and I was able to have a lot of fun creating the album and the videos. The interesting thing is that they work in isolation but are enhanced together”.

It also launched a miniseries of 12 one-minute chapters, which complements the universe exposed in the clips. An entire exploration of transmedia narrative. “During the pandemic I made a work in transmedia format and the idea kept itching for me. I found it to be an excellent tool both to amplify the narration of the video clips and to attract new audiences. Today it is very difficult to capture, and maintain, the listener’s attention and I wanted to exhaust all the possibilities”
