Ohrenfeindt and Schreiber – Christmas show 2017
Location: Grünspan, Hamburg
Date: December 26th 2017
A good tradition is to be cultivated. And so I went for the third time on Boxing Day to Hamburg, to the Grünspan. As in previous years, the Kiez (red-light-district) rockers Ohrenfeindt invited to the year-end concert.
And it is also a good tradition that Viktor Hacker leads through the evening. A quarter to eight he came onto the stage and announced Schreiber from Bad Segeberg, who opened this year, after the musicians around namesake Christian Schreiber were on tour across Germany in recent months with Ohrenfeindt. In their 40-minute set, they presented their new album “Serum”, that was released in October – straight Rock with German lyrics. Not only the own fan club was thrilled by this appearance.
Set list Schreiber:
- So perfekt
- Was du willst
- Ein Mann ein Wort
- Blender
- Anders
- Fluch oder Segen
- Bis ans Ende der Welt
- Serum
- Laut und geil
Before the evening’s hosts came on stage, vocalist and bassist Chris Laut and presenter Viktor Hacker auctioned off the bass strap that Chris used during the tour over the last few months. The proceeds will go to the Sternenbrücke children’s hospice. And of course, this custom-made item is a coveted collector’s item. The American auction yielded 1,020 euros. Chris was visibly moved as he announced this result during the show.
Also, Ohrenfeindt have released a new album with “Zwei Fäuste für Rock’n’Roll” (Two Fists For Rock’n’Roll) this year. In addition to six songs from this album there was a Best Of from more than twenty years on the program. The musicians had a lot of fun and the fans in front of the stage as well. Whether “Deine Mutter singt bei Lordi”, “Zum Rocken geboren” or “Motor an”, the trio really fuelled the fans. And the youngest fan in the Grünspan was allowed to enter the stage for a short time. The obligatory encore ended with the band’s anthem “Ohrenfeindt”. At the Outro (“In Hamburg sagt man Tschüss” by Heidi Kabel), the musicians said goodbye to their fans.

A big thank you goes out to both bands that made for a good ending of the holidays, as well as the crews of the bands and the Grünspan that made this event possible. Sound and light were perfect again this year. At the merch stand and at the subsequent after show party in the heavy metal pub “Night Light” both bands were there at close quarters.
