Active since 2012, the alternative rock band THE CASE from Timisoara, Romania, has spent the past few years refining their rock and garage sound, and their newest release might very well be their greatest single. THE CASE is back at it with a new song ‘Mountain of Pain.’

Joining the inspirational dots between alternative rock, indie, and garage rock swagger since their debut, their discography – “The Case EP” (2014) and “Own The Night” (2017) – features a captivating set of twisted and vibrant yet reflective themes sprinkled with a compelling melodic touch that permeates all through their tracks.

The band’s new single is achingly vulnerable, dramatic, and heavy, radiating grunge energy throughout the song. The four-piece band has always used powerful lyrics to air their messages while frequently weaponizing vocals, snarling, and howling their pain into the ether.

From catchy melodies to gritty riffs, ‘Mountain of Pain‘ is a sprawling track, spanning alternative, grunge, and garage, streamlined under pop supervision that makes it one of the greatest and most infectious Romanian releases this year.

In essence, ‘Mountain of Pain‘ represents that kind of mental block that prevents people from communicating and sharing the needs they experience during this struggle, which ultimately causes depression. Even the band members experienced this blockage during the creative process. In their statement, they note that they attempted to convey this “feeling that nothing is good enough, which brings with it a generous dose of depression that breaks out even during the creative process.”

Adrian Istodorescu, the band’s guitarist, explains: “Like Foster the People’s song ‘Pumped Up Kicks,’ we wanted to emphasize the duality between the lyrics and music.

Our track underwent several changes when it was sent to the mix because we insisted that every component be perfect. The first verse was completely rewritten on the same night that Fred was scheduled to record his vocals, and the bridge of the song is probably one of the most complex pieces of music that we have ever written.”
