They come from Ludwigsburg (Baden-Württemberg). And are a new band made up of established musicians with an average of thirty years’ experience. Guitarist Chris Lorey had the vision of an Old School Hard’n-Heavy band. Little by little, he was able to convince other musicians of his idea. The first sign of life on Facebook dates back to September 26, 2022, so we can assume that the band was founded around this time. The debut album “Out Of The Cave” was released in March.

Oh, my word, this is real Old School Hard Rock, in its melodic manifestation, which you can already hear in “Rat In A Hole”. Banging riffs, great guitar solos. Plus, the magnificent voice of Ronny Munroe. And “Hero” also stomps along so wonderfully retro. You can immediately sing along to the chorus “Long live the Hero”. And once again, a guitar solo is the highlight. So far, all the songs have been in the mid-tempo range. This is also the case with the great Metal anthem “Screaming For A Saviour”. The tempo is also picked up a little here. “Send For My Soul” sounds playful with beautiful guitar hooks. “Blinded” is a beautiful ballad, singer Ronny Munroe is initially accompanied by keyboard tapestries and piano. But later the rhythm section kicks in. The initially contemplative mood switches to a power ballad. “Against The Fray” then picks up speed again. Another ballad follows with “Like A True Father”. This time it’s contemplative throughout, with keyboard strings and acoustic guitars. Lighters on and up! And what a magnificent guitar solo! Four more good mood Rock songs follow with the fast “Sizzling Seas”, the anthems “New Found King” and “The Gold Crown” as well as the ballad like “Deep Menagerie”.

Have Cave reinvented the Melodic Hard Rock? Certainly not. But they celebrate it brilliantly. There are no riff storms, no high-speed orgies, but lots of wonderful melodies! They are following in the footsteps of bands like Queensryche, Savatage or Magnum. Melodic Hard Rock at its best. I would like to hear more of this.
