Dragged Under
‘The World is in Your Way: Deluxe Edition’
Mascot Records
Hardcore/Post-Hardcore/Metalcore
FFO: Every Time I Die, Wage War, Beartooth, The Used, October Ends, The Word Alive
What began as something of a stuttered start with Rest, Repose, its members took stock of their surroundings and from the ashes put together Dragged Under. Learning from the problems of their previous band, Dragged Under have set out to take the world by storm with their debut album ‘The World is in Your Way’.
What Dragged Under bring to the table with ‘The World…’ is an album that is raw, harkening back to the bands Seattle roots with that DIY punk and grunge ethos permeating through the record. Yet, above this raw core is an album that is sleek and well produced with a massive contemporary vibe that has all the appeal of a modern hardcore production. This allows tracks such as ‘Chelsea’, ‘Riot’ and ‘Roots’ to become massive anthems that have the potential to shift records by the pallet load and receive large radio play as ‘The World…’ really does have the hallmarks of Hawthorne Heights playing with The Used whilst Every Time I Die and October Ends jam relentlessly with Beartooth and The Word Alive as large clean singalong chorus’ juxtapose themselves beautifully against raw, angsty screams.
Dragged Under have set themselves up perfectly for a springboard leap into the big leagues, obviously this album won’t appeal to every metal fan, but for those who hear the call, Dragged Under will undoubtedly become playlist favourites. As for the band, watch this space, there are great things happening and Dragged Down may just be the next big thing, get them whilst they’re hot.
