Krilloan
Emperor Rising
Label: Scarlet Records
Out: December 9th, 2022
Playing time: 36:55

Krilloan came into the Power Metal world with a bang in 2021.

And that with their EP “Stories Of Times Forgotten”. Obviously, the Italian label Scarlet Records was very impressed. And so, in the third year of their existence, Krilloan have also signed with the third label. This time the album was mixed by Cristoph Brandes at Iguana Studios. The artwork for the album was done by Alvaro Valverde. Matthias Graf (Evertale), Jack Reynolds (Battle Born) and Johan Karlsson (Evermore) could be won as guests.

With “Prince Of Caledor” Krilloan go straight into the full swing. Fast-playing Power Metal is paired with beautiful melodies. Yes, that fits together wonderfully. This continues with “Sons Of The Lion”. A melodic high-speed parforce ride. “Fireborn” is a great Metal anthem. Just like “Stormlight” later on. The instrumental interlude “Return To Melnibone” is a bit calmer and provides a little breather. Before the title track “Emperor Rising” is a mixture of Highspeed Metal and Metal anthem. “Break Of Dawn (Brothers In Arms)” is the epic ballad of the album. Following this, “Into The Storm” lives up to its title. Once again we find ourselves in the high-speed realms. The last song, “Angels Sacrifice”, once again upholds the tradition of Metal anthems.

It is noticeable that Krilloan have greatly reduced the Symphonic parts. Instead, we hear classic European-style Power Metal. But without renouncing the Power Metal bombast. Comparisons to Blind Guardian come to mind. A grandiose debut album.
