It was to be a lavish release party in the Groove Bar in Cologne. If I counted right, then the Kiez Rockers from Ohrenfeindt released their ninth studio album “Das Geld liegt liegt auf der Straße“ (The money is on the street) that day. But unfortunately, such a show is not possible at the moment. The club was only allowed to sell a quarter of the possible tickets. Only forty fans came that evening. And there was a mask requirement for the crew, staff and guests. So not exactly the best conditions for a rock concert.
But the trio from St. Pauli was not impressed by all the adversities. Shortly after 8:00 p.m., they started the evening with the title song of the current album “ Das Geld liegt auf der Straße ”, in one block with “Porschekiller” (Album “Tanz Nackt” , 2018) and the title song of the 2015 album“ Motor An ”. Under normal conditions, the fans would have been so heated that the hall would have shaken while singing along with the chorus to “Auf die Fresse ist umsonst”. But no matter how loud the few fans shouted, it only arrived home quietly. Speaking of the release show. Six more songs from the current album followed that evening. By the way, the singer was evidently inspired to “Motocross im Treppenhaus” by a sketch by Swiss cabaret artist Emil Steinberger. Delicious, the parody in almost perfect dialect. Thanks to Corona, the concert was briefly interrupted in the middle. The location had to be ventilated. However, this time was used for a short interview with Chris. While broadcasting a Coroncert from Hanover, I recently experienced virtual encore calls (via chat). This time they came from the fans present. The trio from Hamburg St. Pauli played three more songs before the traditional outro “In Hamburg sagt man Tschüss” (Heidi Kabel) was heard.

The sound and picture were very good that evening. In terms of quality, it was one of the best livestream transmissions I have ever seen. One can only hope that real live concerts can take place again next year. Then I’ll definitely be there on Boxing Day when Ohrenfeindt invite you to the traditional end of the year in the Grünspan in Hamburg.
