CATHARTIC was formed in July 2019 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. During the winter (2019/2020), the band entered the studio to record the songs that appear on their first EP “Ceremonial Resurrection”.

Now, CATHARTIC has recorded its debut full-length album with Jesús Bravo at Bravesound Studio and mastered by the legendary Tomas Skogsberg at the famous Sunlight Studios (Sweden).

The album title “Through the Abysmal Gates of Subconscious” was taken from an extract of the song “Elemental” by Finnish Doom/Death star THERGOTHON, and CATHARTIC’s musical style can be defined as a return to the roots of Death Metal, with hints of melody and Doom. A clever combination of fast and catchy riffs and just the right amount of slow and intense heavy parts make up its sound.

“Through the Abysmal Gates of Subconscious” is focused on the insignificance of our existence as individuals. Death is our true and only purpose while we are guided by suffering, sadness, triumph, hate, dogmas, doubts, and fear of the unknown with a nihilistic and pessimistic view of points.

CATHARTIC’s musical influences range from BOLT THROWER, CARCASS, and SADISTIC INTENT, to DISMEMBER, the early work of AMORPHIS, CARNAGE, and EDGE Of SANITY. But the intention is to have its own original style and sound.

Titled Vanish into Oblivion, the track is taken from CATHARTIC’s debut full-length album, Through the Abysmal Gates of Subconscious, which will be released this summer via Awakening Records. Stay tuned!
