Fury are a Heavy Metal band hailing from Worcester (West Midlands, England). Their history dates back to 2010. During this time, there have been several line-up changes. The only remaining founding member is singer and guitarist Julian Jenkins. His female vocal partner Nyah Ifill joined the band only in 2022. In its twenty-five years to date, the band has released four studio albums, one live album, two EPs and countless singles. ‘Interceptor’ is therefore album number five. According to the press release, the album is recommended for fans of Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne and Halestorm.

The album kicks off with the title track, ‘Interceptor.’ And there’s no beating around the bush. The Brits get straight down to business. Julian Jenkins takes the lead vocals at first. But soon after, you can hear how well the vocal duo Jenkins/Ifill work together, even though Nyah only takes the second voice at first. The two guitarists (Julian Jenkins/Tom Atkinson) also work very well together. Bass lady Becky Baldwin provides loud, deep tones. On ‘What’s It Gonna Be?’, Nyah’s vocals come more to the fore. Overall, the song is less intense. ‘On The Town’ is then Metal at its finest. Julian sings with a slightly raspy voice. Drummer Tom Fenn clearly sets the pace. ‘Don’t Lie To Me’ starts with clapping and “ohohohohoh” vocals. Melodic vocals are accompanied by hard riffs. ‘In Pursuit Of Destiny’ is then a little quieter. Clear guitar licks accompany the vocals. And again that ‘ohohohohoh’. But that can be forgiven with the Hard Rock sounds. Could it be any more relaxed? Yes. The beginning of ‘Can’t Resist (Gimme What I Need)’ proves this. But only briefly, then it’s mid-tempo Metal for your ears. With heavy riffs and strong guitar solos. In the ballad ‘Walk Away’, the guitar strings are plucked vigorously at the beginning. Here, Nyah and Julian can show what excellent Rock/Metal singers they are. On the other hand, ‘Look At Us Now’ really gets things going. Tom Fenn on drums has a lot of hard work to do and really drives his bandmates forward. I don’t know what the abbreviation ‘DTR’ means. There are several possible meanings, and I don’t want to speculate. At least there’s an atmospheric riff-driven Metal stomper to listen to, with another outstanding guitar solo. The finale, ‘Undistilled’, starts off more quietly. A ballad-like Rock anthem. The vocals are accompanied by subtle Hammond sounds. And the melodic guitar solo is simply huge. A real treat for the ears to finish with.

Oh my God, another male-female vocal duo. But don’t worry, we’re not hearing the hundred thousandth version of ‘Beauty and the Beast’. No, both singers have expressive rock voices. And they harmonise perfectly with each other. They are accompanied very well by the instrumental section. The only minor flaw that prevents an even better rating is the repeated ‘ohohohohoh’ vocals, even though they are quite different melodically.
