Rage In My Eyes
Spiral EP

A view across the Atlantic is always worthwhile. Here I am looking in the direction of Brazil. Rage In My Eyes, hail from the south of Brazil, the city of Porto Alegre (capital of the state of Rio Grande do Sul). The band was founded in 2018 and their debut album “Ice Cell” was released in August 2019. The quartet did not let the current pandemic stop them. They worked intensively on new songs. And these were recorded in the studio. The result can be heard from mid-October, the EP “Spiral”.
I ask myself, is that necessary? An EP with an intro of one and a half minutes. Although “Farewell” increases towards the end, it would be dispensable. The first regular song “And Then Came The Storm” then compensates somewhat. OK, no new accents are set for the genre of Power Metal. But the musicians really go for it here. Thunderous riffs are blasted into the ears of the listeners. And singer Jonathas Pozo is quite convincing. Actually, this would have been the perfect opener for the EP. “Dare To Defy” is then classic High-Speed Metal in a modern style. Besides the vocals, I’m impressed by the guitar hooks that are thrown in as if in passing. And the brilliant guitar solo. With “Spark Of Hope” follows an acoustic ballad. Besides acoustic guitars, an accordion(?) can be heard here. Time to dream. Unfortunately, “Spiral Seasons” is the last song. Here, too, the hard riffs dominate at first. Rhythm, tempo and melody are varied a little. This gives the song a slightly progressive touch.
I have left the intro out of my score. The four songs, however, present the diversity of Power Metal. And the ability of the musicians. Rage In My Eyes can definitely impress me with this EP. More of this please.
