All questions are answered by Kent KillerHertz

Hey everybody and thanks for haven us here at Metal Heads Forever – well the year has been very productive so far – Working on music videos and promoting our upcoming album STARBURST, and we´re just getting ready for a hopefully bright future for The KillerHertz

What was the beginning pint for your music career? How did it all start?

It all started mainly from watching MTV (when it was a music channel) back in the 80´s and start 90´s – You wanted to be a Rockstar, just by watching those videos! – I remember creating a band even before we learned to play any instruments. But before The KillerHertz, we came from different bands and constellations, such as Pitch Black, Awakening, Noxtrain and JFK.
After a few years break, due to family and kids, Thomas Trold and I started The KillerHertz back in 2011. Since then, we have two full album releases – “A Killer Anthem” in 2014 and “Mirrors Portrait” in 2017, and an EP “Innocent Sinners” from 2019.

Were there any bumps on the road? What kind of challenges did you have to deal with?

There are always bumps on the way, like recruiting new members to the band – we have had some changes in the line-up over the years, and its always hard saying goodbye to a band member, after been playing together for a longer period. I’ve had a break for a few months, due to an operation back in 2014. Other big challenges would the promotion part, which perhaps have been the biggest challenge so far.

What was the most fulfilling and satisfying moment so far?

Well, the creative part of the process in making music, and having a complete product (album), you’ve made from scratch is very satisfying. And of course, playing live and getting the recognition for your work as a musician are some of the most fulfilling and satisfying moments.

How would you describe the music that you typically create?

We get our Inspirations from everyday life in all its meaning, that’s what most of the lyrics are about – like love, expectations, breaking up, people in general, who we are and so on…Death, life and loveare mainly the subjects through our songs, which most people can relate to. Musically our inspirations thrive mostly through classic bands and artists from the 80´s and 90´s …We´re a mix of new and old, as Rock Lifestyle describe us: “The KillerHertz is like Volbeat had a baby with Megadeth”

What is your creative process like?

All song writing is done by Thomas Trold – the whole process is mostly done by Thomas Trold has an idea and we´ll then start adding some drums to it and see how that works. Afterwards would be adding all other instruments and giving everybody their opinion to the process. Sometimes the flow comes naturally, other times it needs a bit more work to the process. But we have known each other for quite some time, so we have gotten a wider understanding towards each other, and all members tends to be on the same page in the process of making music. With the new album “STARBURST”, we had a totally different creative process due to the COVID situation – Thomas Trold had made tons of songs at his small home studio, which means swoping files to all of us on a daily basis, before having the songs ready for the album…We were only able to rehears a couple of the songs before entering the studio – and we did most of the recordings separately, so a completely new way for us as a band. We even skipped a couple of songs before we were satisfied with the album.

If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

We are almost the same ages in the band – and we are from a time with records and later CDs – but there are pros and cons to the streaming service industry – it´s easy to get new music today and there´s a lot of it – but at the same time the artist has lost a very important income, because of the steaming services. So less money to the streaming services, and more to the artists.

If you were asked to give a piece of advice to upcoming bands, what would that be?

Be more serios about playing music, be committed and be ambitious. Most important is being true to yourself and remember to keep your feet on the ground. Be in the moment… And don’t forget to enjoy it.

What has been the best performance of your career so far?

Our last album release concert was definitely one of the top gigs, but we have had some good performances over the years, even though we´ve gone through technical problems, driving a long way, and ending up playing for 40 attendances…. Every gig has had its charm.

If you didn’t become a musician, what would you be doing now?

Im an educated Gartner and have an A.P degree in Environmental Technologies, so pursuing a career has always been a priority beside playing in a band.

What is new with the band at the moment? What are you currently working on and would like to share with the world?

After nearly two years from our latest release “Innocent Sinners” – We are finally done with our third full length album titled “STARBURST”. The new album is set to be released in late 2022, and our first single “The Wait for Closure” is out now!!
