GARGANT RELEASES “PILGRIM AND THE BEAST” VIDEO THAT MIXES METAL AND DARK FANTASY Aesthetics

Rio de Janeiro duo GARGANT released the video for their debut single “PILGRIM AND THE BEAST” , which proposes a rescue of 1990s heavy metal, but with influences from the DARK FANTASY aesthetic. Directed by João Carlos “Joca” Rocha and Guilherme Sevens, the production tells the story of a pilgrim who feels betrayed by Heaven and Hell and sets out in search of a journey of self-knowledge. The mixing and mastering was done by Celo Oliveira and was performed at Kolera Studio.

With a sound heavily inspired by names like BRUCE DICKINSON, ICED EARTH and PRIMAL FEAR , the single “PILGRIM AND THE BEAST” features lyrics with characteristics of dark fantasy, a genre that mixes fantasy with horror elements and appears in cinema, comics and classics. of literature.

According to vocalist, guitarist and bassist GUILHERME SEVENS , the idea behind “PILGRIM AND THE BEAST” is to bring back the language of classic metal, dialoguing with spiritual themes in a very visual way.

” ‘PILGRIM AND THE BEAST’ was born quite independently, inspired by works such as SPAWN and ELRIC comics , as well as classic literature tales such as ‘THE GRIFFIN AND THE MINOR CANON’ , by FRANK R. STOCKTON . Our music is straight to the point, with a focus on impacting heavy metal fans emotionally, rescuing the nostalgia of the 90’s and 00’s. I believe that our differential is the determination to do a work without frills, to offer a genuinely idealized project from fan to fan. desire to always do things very independently, covering as much of the creative process and execution/finishing as possible”, says GUILHERME SEVENS.

Founded in 2022 by GUILHERME SEVENS (vocals, guitar and bass) and PHILL DRIGUES (drums), GARGANT emerged from the duo’s desire to express themselves without strings amid the challenges of the pandemic. The two met within the Rio de Janeiro band PAINSIDE , which is currently on a hiatus. Since then, GARGANT has emerged as a duo to bring the musical ambitions of GUILHERME and PHILL to life. All recordings were made by the band itself, in a ‘do it yourself’ way.
