SHADOW REBELS “Liquid”

The first EP by Israeli Post-Grunge/Hard Rock band.

EP includes two Singles from forthcoming fourth full-length album, and marks a certain turn of the band in terms of musical style. Thanks to the appearance of a new drummer, the music got rid of the complexities inherent in Progressive Rock and came closer to mainstream Hard Rock. Fast, bold, unstoppable – this is how Shadow Rebels sounds now! The melodies of the chorus will stay in your head for a while and encourage you to listen to them again and again.

The first song, “Cry!”, is about eternal – relationships, hypocrisy and women’s use of tears as a weapon.
The second song is about the Spirit of Water. No mysticism – simply about the meaning of life, which is impossible without water, from a small stream to the ocean.

BIOGRAPHY

Shadow Rebels was founded by Michael Rosenfeld in September 2004. First two members – Michael (vocals, bass) and Alon Lazarovich (drums) tried to perform Grunge/Alternative Rock as a duo. Two months later, Arkady Scherba (keyboards) was added, and the band became a trio.
In this line-up, in February 2005, Shadow Rebels recorded first demo.
On April 2005, Alon leaves the band due to immigration to New Zealand, and a new member, Orian Cnafeau, becomes band’s drummer.
In four next years, Shadow Rebels released demo “Guitar Cancelled” (2006) and debut album, “Lamzaknum” (2008), shot a few video-clips, performed in a lot of festivals and concerts all over Israel. In the middle of April 2009 Orian decided to leave the band and Shadow Rebels went on an indefinite hiatus.

Four years later, in April 2013, Michael announced a reunion of the band. Now with guitar player and, of course, changing the sound and style. Drummer place was taken by Stalik Istaharov.
During April-July of 2014, the second album “Oversleep Hurricane” was recorded completely on analogue equipment. Michael’s best friend, Oleksandr Petrenko (guitar-player and composer from Kyiv, Ukraine), wrote all music for the new album and recorded rhythm guitar lines. Michael took his part as bass and keyboards player, recorded all live violins, sitar and vocals. For complete guitar lines (mostly solo-parts) and for live performances, new guitar player, Rustam Safaraliev, was added to line-up.
In 2015, the band signed with Metal Scrap Records and beginning their professional way to music release and distribution. New line-up recorded and released “Oversleep Hurricane” album (2015) and “47” single (2019). Shadow Rebels also took the part at United Metal Festival – 7 in Serbia. Few self-made clips and live video-shows were filmed during these years. Band gigged a lot in local concert and festivals.

A few years later, during recording of the next album (2016 – 2018), keyboardist Arkady Scherba again joined the band. With this renewed line-up, Shadow Rebels recorded the third full-length studio album, “On The Ride”. Unlike the previous release, which was recorded in a pure studio style, with many overdubs and individual recordings of the musicians, this time all the musicians entered the studio and simultaneously recorded rhythm section for most songs in album in 6 hours only. Later recordings were completed with guitar overdubs and vocals. Major part of work took the mixing and mastering.
Shadow Rebels was close to separation after personal drama of bandleader, and pandemic issues, that almost stopped final stage of album production. Also, due to Stalik Istaharov’s health problems, he decided to leave the band in May 2020. He was replaced by new drummer, Boris Mahoni.
Finally, “On The Ride” album was released on September 17, 2021, by Another Side Records, a division of Metal Scrap Records.

Keyboardist, Arkady Scherba, left the band in April 2022.
Singles “A Few Hours Of Love”, “Cry!”, and “Water Spirit” were officially released same year.
With the renewed line-up, sound of Shadow Rebels become more powerful, songs much understandable and easier for mainstream listeners. Style of Shadow Rebels become more Hard Rock, Classical and Post-Grunge, and less Progressive. Szabo of Ektomorf and Bloody Roots.
