“Tigercub steps up to claim the front runner status as the new heavy.  They emerge from Brighton UK under the 7 foot frame of Mr. Jamie Hall and his Tigercub.” ~ Stone Gossard

(Seattle, WA – February 9, 2022) — Revolver announced today Loosegroove Records has signed Tigercub, the Brighton UK trio led by vocalist and guitarist Jamie Stephen Hall, bassist Jimi Wheelwright and drummer James Allix. The band also announces US headlines dates in conjunction with their US and Canada shows supporting Clutch and EYEHATEGOD.

The relationship between Loosegroove and Tigercub began in May 2021 when Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard publicly expressed his admiration for the band via Pearl Jam’s social media stating, “I fell in love with this band Tigercub. They are fricken heavy… then Jamie Hall sent me this new song “Funeral” which is out now. Shit! The man can kill a quiet song as well. Hey @tigercub do you want to sign to @loosegrooveR? Come On! – Stone

The signing of Tigercub on Loosegroove Records also marks the reboot of the influential indie label that Gossard founded back in 1994 with Regan Hagar (who also played drums in Gossard’s longtime band Brad as well as the seminal glam-punk band Malfunkshun).

Throughout the ‘90s, Loosegroove issued records from acts such as Critters BugginMalfunkshunWeapon of Choice and Devilhead, and significantly Gossard and Hagar signed Queens of the Stone Age and released the band’s debut album in 1998, providing a foundation to build to where they are now. “It’s a band like Tigercub that makes us want to reboot Loosegroove” says Hagar.  Stone adds, “It’s almost 23 years to date that Queens of the Stone Age debuted at Mercury Lounge in NYC.  And now Tigercub makes their Big Apple debut in the same club on April 16th. This is just the beginning for this incredibly talented group from Brighton UK to enlighten us Yanks to the sound of the new heavy!”

Tigercub’s latest album As Blue As Indigo was met with rave reviews from metal, rock and alt press internationally, establishing the band’s genre-pushing originality. KERRANG praised the album as the “birth of a rock n’ roll poet” with a 4/5 review.  The record was written and produced by the band’s own Jamie Stephen Hall, engineered and co-produced by Adrian Bushy (Foo Fighters, Muse) and mixed by Tom Dalgety (Pixies, Ghost, Royal Blood). Written over two years, As Blue As Indigo champions introspections drawing on the subjectivity of color, paired with masterclass songwriting, mind-bending arrangements constructed with boundary-pushing production, “One of the best rock records of the year,” states Under The Radar magazine, scoring the album 8/10.
