Fatal Fire
Arson
Label: MDD Records
Out: March 28th, 2024
Playing time: 38:51

The extremely short press release speaks of one of the most promising German Power Metal newcomers. We are talking about Fatal Fire. They hail from the Hessian metropolis of Frankfurt (Main) and were founded in 2019. Since then, the line-up seems to have remained constant. The debut album “Arson” was released in March. “Arson” was recorded at Markus Teske’s Bazement Studio. And that’s almost the only information you can find about the band.

With “Destruction”, the Hessians live up to their band name and the album title. There is real fire under the cauldron. A Power Metal anthem. Singer Svenja Rohmann is driven by her bandmates. And can convince right from the start. The tempo increases with “Ashes Remain”. A skillful mixture of Power and Speed Metal. Riff after riff is fired off. The next high-speed grenade follows with “Dawn Of Fate”. “Crossroads” starts with a drum solo. You don’t hear something like that on a studio album every day these days. But this was just the introduction to a somewhat calmer mid-tempo anthem. But that was just the calm before the storm. With “Sea Of Damnation”, the album moves into Speed Metal territory again. The Power Metal anthem “Meteorites” leads to the end of the album. Here, too, Fatal Fire step on the gas pedal at times. The guitar solos should not go unmentioned. One of them can also be enjoyed here. On “Kingslayer”, the collaboration between the two guitarists is particularly impressive. After so much impetuous musical elemental force, the power ballad “Ardent Wave” offers a contemplative finale.

With “Arson”, Fatal Fire have released a remarkable debut album. This could well be competition for the established Metal bands. And that’s a good thing. Fatal Fire are definitely ready for a changing of the guard. Metal needs new heroes! And of course, a breath of fresh air.
