The Argentine Power Metal band Preludio Ancestral was founded in 2005 by guitarist Leonardo “Leo” Gatti and has been active ever since. Leo is also the only member who has been with the band throughout the years. Preludio Ancestral has mainly played live in Buenos Aires and the surrounding province. In the year the band was founded, they released a demo with five songs entitled “Dale la melodía exacta.” After 2012, they released three EPs, five albums, and various singles. Their sixth album, “Guardians Of Twilight,” will be available in April.

Right from the start, ‘Blades Of The Burning Sky’ offers Melodic Power Metal. Drums and guitars provide a fast tempo. The catchy chorus is easy to sing along to. The guitar solo is outstanding and is accompanied by rhythmic drumming. ‘Riders Of The Crimson Storm’ is characterised by galloping guitar riffs and melodies. Once again, the musicians are driven by drummer Martin de Pas. The Power Metal anthem ‘The Shadow Throne’ starts off more quietly with beautiful guitar melodies. This is accompanied by powerful, clear vocals. Another anthem follows with ‘Flame Of The Eternal Dragon’. Some high-pitched Metal screams at the beginning are later replaced by vocals in the middle range. Later, during an epic chorus, high screams can be heard again. That pretty much says it all. The album continues with varied Power Metal arrangements. Great anthems such as ‘The Storm Of A Thousand Wings’, ‘The Sorceress Of My Heart’, ‘Crown Of The Rising Sun’, catchy Melodic Rock songs that invite you to sing along, such as ‘Rise Of The Golden Flame’ and ‘The Last Stand Of Light’, and high-speed rockers like ‘Vengeance Of The Dragonheart’ and ‘Forged In The Skyfire’ ensure great musical enjoyment. ‘Twilight Of The Hero’ forms the epic finale to the album.

Guardians Of Twilight is an outstanding Power Metal album. Preludio Ancestral have done an excellent job. From the varied songwriting (Leonardo Gatti) to the musical skills and the high-quality production (Leonardo Gatti and Luca Medina). I would like to highlight the extremely successful album cover. The press release describes Leonardo Gatti as ‘one of Latin America’s most inspiring composers within this genre’. I couldn’t agree more.
