Estonian death metal band Surgent released a bloody music video for their new single “Blood Offering”
Progressive death metal band Surgent from Estonia has released their second music video “Blood Offering” from their self-titled debut album, which will be released on November 17th. In addition they have released a limited edition merch to celebrate the latest release.
Surgent’s second music video “Blood Offering” is illustrated by Kristel Sergo and animated by Grete-Liisa Sihver. Since the song is inspired by mesoamerican sacrificial rituals it was fitting to use different symbols from these cultures in the video.
The main character of the story is promised godhood through a blood ritual, but realises at the sacrificial table that he is insignificant despite all the promises.
“Civilizations and cultures that do not value human life or value it in a destructive way as the mesoamerican cultures did are destined to fail,” said guitarist Jaan Varts about the lyrics.
Band members have previously collaborated with various legendary Estonian bands such as Recycle Bin, Horricane, Finish Me Off, Paean, Ocean Districts, Kaschalot, etc. However, with this project, they take it to another level by creating a totally unique soundscape – Surgent is a melodic, versatile and crushingly heavy progressive death metal band from Estonia that draws inspiration from different cultures and genres from bossa nova to grunge.
“Surgent” means a powerful forward and upward movement by a crowd or natural force and this concept describes their music and ambitions perfectly. Their versatile sound combined
with energetic live performances make them a force to be reckoned with.
Surgent’s self-titled debut album will be released on 17th of November, followed by concerts in Tallinn and Tartu.
The band consists of Endrik Salak (vocals), Jaan Varts (guitar), Jüri Tarkpea (bass) and Sten Loov (drums).
