Enemynside ‘Chaos Machine’

Founded in 1999, Enemynside called it a day in 2013. Fortunately, the Italians returned in 2016 and on what would be their 20th anniversary the band have released their fourth studio album ‘Chaos Machine’.
Thankfully, with ‘Chaos Machine’, Enemynside have rekindled the fire in their bellies that was somewhat lacking on their previous album ‘Whatever Comes’. Because of this reignition, the band have delivered an album of driving thrash metal. Yet, as expected, this thrash does not deviate from what the band have already achieved, and it does stick to the familiar original thrash format. This means that ‘Chaos Machine’ has all the appeal of Testament, Death Angel and Forbidden with tracks such as ‘Black Mud’, ‘System Failure’ and the superb ‘Frozen Prison Cell’ pummelling with some excellent headbanging riffs, thunderous rhythms and scouring vocals. Furthermore, ‘Chaos Machine’ does contains just enough of a touch of power metal to give this album the likeability of Iced Earth as vocalist Francesco Cremisini stamps his authority down with a powerful conviction.
However, ‘Chaos Machine’ does not show anything that the band haven’t already been done and there is a rather generic feel to it. Yet ultimately, who actually cares? This is an enjoyable thrash album which although does not tread new ground, it grabs an already worn formula and gives it a good old kicking.
